Now that they’ve settled into their new $6.6 million mansion in the affluent Florida city of Jupiter, it’s no surprise that veteran “Sports Illustrated” model Kate Upton and her pro baseball star hubby Justin Verlander have put their former Los Angeles estate up to bat. And the couple are bravely swinging for a home run, of sorts, asking $11.75 million for the prime property — a notably hefty profit over the $5.3 million they paid the place back in 2016.
A quick comparison of listing pictures from then and now reveals Upton and Verlander — married since 2017 — have given the entire house a contemporary-themed overhaul that no doubt cost a pretty penny. Originally built in 1976 and spanning a roomy 5,500 square feet, the East Coast-inspired traditional structure has four bedrooms, five bathrooms and overlooks a championship tennis court. The place also sits behind a notably long, gated driveway, on a 1.55 acre property tucked high in the mountains above Beverly Hills, far into the deepest reaches of Benedict Canyon.
Like many of the surrounding homes, the lush estate also boasts a celebrity pedigree. The Upton-Verlanders bought the place from Mindy Peters, the ex-wife of “Batman” producer Jon Peters. The Peterses originally acquired the property in 2004 from tennis champ Pete Sampras, who himself bought the estate from Grammy winner Kenny G.
Whoever buys the estate will also get the benefit of celebrity neighbors, provided they care about such things. Immediately next door to this house is a guard-gated compound owned by Vin Diesel, and other folks in the same general vicinity include Cameron Diaz, John Mayer and Eva Longoria.
Susan Smith of Hilton & Hyland holds the listing.
