After a previous buyer “failed to follow through, perform, fund and close the transaction,” according to a press release, legendary pigskin tosser turned commentator and reality TV star Terry Bradshaw has passed his southern Oklahoma ranch back on the open market with Icon Global Group at $22.5 million.
Bradshaw built up the ranch over a period of decades, amassing almost 750 pastoral acres along the snaking Red River that demarcates the border between Oklahoma and Texas. Just outside itty-bitty Thackerville (pop. 445), about 125 miles south of Oklahoma City and 70 miles north of Dallas/Fort Worth, reality TV watchers are well familiar with the four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback’s working quarter horse, cattle, and recreational ranch as it was widely featured on the E! channel’s “The Bradshaw Bunch.”
Set at the end of a long driveway that winds through fenced pastures, the 8,600-square-foot main residence is a marriage of rustic materials and luxury comforts. With eight bedrooms and six bathrooms, plus a couple of powder rooms, the house showcases four massive stone fireplaces, wood-beamed ceilings, and stone walls, along with an integrated Sonos sound system and Control4 home automation. Outside the house, along with a free-form swimming pool and a circular spa, the 1,000-square-foot patio includes a full kitchen, bar, fireplace, fire pit and hot sauna. The elevated position makes it perfect for sunset viewing and star gazing from the classic porch swing.
The ranch’s extensive equestrian and quarter horse breeding operations include a 12-stall stallion barn, a 20-stall weanling barn, a 20-stall show barn, and a 50-stall mare barn complete with an office, laboratory and state of the art breeding facility. There’s also an office with full kitchen, a show barn for swine, and a six-bay shop for farm equipment. Walking, riding and four-wheeling trails wind though the property.
Additional accommodations for humans include a 2,600-square-foot manager’s house and a four-bedroom bunkhouse, while the family pooches shack up in a two-story stone-built doghouse with its own pool!
Bradshaw and wife Tammy first attempted to sell the ranch back in late 2014, when it was listed at $10.8 million. Records show it remained on the market until October 2016 at that same price and, reports from time indicate the couple planned to buy a smaller place nearby. Icon’s current press release goes to state that Bradshaw and wife Tammy have been “inundated with requests to sell” over the years but are now committed to selling the ranch because they’ve already relocated to a smaller farm in Texas where they plan to continue their quarter horse operation.
The listing was first reported in The Dallas Morning News.
