Following professional stints in Portland, Brooklyn, Atlanta, and Minneapolis, NBA shooting guard Allen Crabbe has come full circle in his journey of life, returning to his childhood home of Los Angeles to set down some residential roots. The newly free agent may not be currently signed to a team, but he’s got more than enough coins in his piggy bank to live quiet lavishly, having raked in more than $10 million every year since 2016. And though he’s still young, the 28-year-old also boasts more than $85 million in lifetime career earnings.
Crabbe’s residence of choice is a glam and notably immodest mansion in the prime San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Encino. He paid just under $5.4 million for the .37-acre property last month, records reveal, a slight discount from the original $5.7 million ask. Described in the listing as an “extraordinary modern luxury estate,” the Lego-like house was completed in 2020 by a local developer and packs 7 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms into nearly 8,000 square feet of strikingly contemporary living space.
Guests will be suitably awed by the front motorcourt, which can accommodate 15 cars and spans the full width of the house, from the attached three-car garage to the additional covered carport on the opposite side. Inside, the rooms boast impressive scale and dozens of LED recessed lights. A great room is centered around a linear fireplace and has Fleetwood glass doors that open to the backyard; the adjoining formal dining room includes a dangling, lighted pendant and can seat eight diners with ease.
The sleek, chic kitchen offers a breakfast bar with seating for five, top-of-the-line appliances, and unusual custom glass countertops. Also on the main level are guest quarters and a private office, plus a light-up wet bar that services the great room.
Four snazzy bedroom suites are located upstairs. Snazziest among them is the master retreat, unsurprisingly, which sports its own fireplace and sitting area, plus a private balcony with birds-eye views of the backyard — perfect for keeping a watchful eye on rowdy children. There’s also a walk-in closet with custom mirrored cabinetry, a jewelry storage island and its own chandelier. Elsewhere, the upper level offers VIP guests a rooftop lounge with an outdoor fireplace.
Like many all-new Valley mansions, the Crabbe estate also has a full basement level with a host of resort-quality amenities — a sauna, a soundproof movie theater with plush carpeting, a second kitchen/bar area, and a mirror-walled gym, plus a powder room and another guest bedroom.
The party continues out back, where there lies a putting green and a half-court basketball court, naturally. Just beyond that is a tiled swimming pool with a raised spa next to a BBQ center and bar area. One covered loggia has its own outdoor fireplace, and the wee poolhouse includes a patio, plus a convenient outdoor shower.
Lilach Basson of Compass held the listing; Michael Preis of Re/Max One repped Crabbe.
