Property gossip column regular is Rosie O’Donnell is back in the real estate news, making her long-time five-residence compound on the western bank of the Hudson River in the affluent community of Nyack, N.Y., available for sale with a $10.79 million price tag. As noted in the New York Post, the five residences, three with river frontage, are also offered for purchase separately. The multi-dimensional comedian, actress, talk show host, author, activist, blogger and LGBTQ entrepreneur, purchased the five contiguous properties in a series of transactions between May 2001 and January 2008 that totaled $8.605 million.
The compound’s five properties total about 2.4 acres and is anchored by a seven bedroom Dutch Colonial main residence originally built in 1906 and available on its own at $5.3 million. Set on a gently sloped parcel of almost an acre, the main residence has an immense great room that features an eccentric, colorfully spirited mosaic tiled fireplace in the living area, a huge, chef-accommodating kitchen with two over-sized and marble countered islands and a room-wide bank of floor-to-ceiling windows and glass sliders that open to a slender deck with a dramatic, up-close view of the Tappen Zee Bridge. The property also includes a detached carriage house with two-car garage and a one-bedroom apartment up top, a full-court basketball court, a river-side swimming pool and spa and a private dock — one of two on the compound — plus a comprehensive security system and, should the power go out, a generator.
The second largest house, a fieldstone-faced turn-of-the 20th-century Dutch Colonial set right on the river’s edge with four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, a river-side porch and a stone terrace with fire pit, is available at $2.2 million; A shingle-sided residence that dates to 1918, also set next to the river with three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a water-side deck and a 100-foot-long boat dock, is available on its own for $1.99 million; A three-story 1970s contemporary with three bedrooms and walls of windows that spill out to a variety of decks and terraces can be had for $775,000 and a single-level one-bedroom cottage built in the mid-1960s has a wrap around deck that overlooks a picturesque slope of tree-shaded lawn and carries an asking price of $525,000.
O’Donnell, who’s had recurring roles on a number of quirky, cult-favorite TV shows such as “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Web Therapy” and currently co-stars on the Showtime series “SMILF,” maintains a frequently in flux portfolio of multi-million dollar residences along the East Coast, including a sleekly outfitted four-bedroom and three-bathroom triplex penthouse in Midtown Manhattan she snatched up earlier this year for $8 million. The politically engaged, sharply outspoken and, hence, intensely polemical star’s holdings additionally include a just shy of 7,600-square-foot, bay-front mini-mansion in West Palm Beach, Fla., she scooped up in July 2015 for $4.975 million — it’s currently listed at $5.5 million — as well as a 5.7-acre spread in Saddle River, N.J., that, after being for sale for more than 1.5 years, is now listed at $5.9 million, substantially less than the $6.375 million she paid for the gated estate in the fall of 2013.
