Australian actor Alex Russell, 32-year-old star of the primetime reboot of the 1970s crime series “S.W.A.T.”, and soon to be seen on the silver screen in the upcoming nonbinary drama “Under My Skin,” has commemorated his upwardly mobile professional status with the more than $2.1 million purchase of a traditional home in one of the more sought after neighborhoods in the rolling foothills of L.A.’s popular and increasingly expensive San Fernando Valley community of Studio City.
Sequestered behind gates with multiple security cameras, and decked out with a comprehensive home automation system, the stone-accented tan-stucco home was built in 2008 on about one-third of an acre with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths in close to 3,200 square feet over two floors.
Glossy Brazilian walnut floors, thick crown molding and a palatial carved-stone fireplace in the formal living room strive for timeless, high-end elegance. In the formal dining room, which features a custom chair rail and a coffered ceiling treatment, full-height French doors open to a verdant view of the surrounding trees, while the expensively accoutered eat-in kitchen sports a combination of dark-brown and antique-white cabinetry. Elsewhere, a media room is equipped with a projection system. Upstairs bedrooms include the main suite, which comprises a fireplace, two walk-in closets, a huge terrace with open views and a bathroom bathed in banker’s green marble.
Bordered by a low, vine-covered wall, over which can be seen a leafy mountain view, the backyard is unusually flat and spacious for a home in the hills. A covered patio for shaded al fresco lounging and an evergreen sweep of faux grass complement extensive stone terracing around a classic kidney-shaped swimming pool and spa accented with built-in planters.
