Gorgeous Penelope Cruz Refusing To Wear Fur

Dirt loves all living creatures.  Dirt loves cats and dogs and cows and horses and dung beetles and fruit flies and ants and anything with a pulse.  Natch, you can bet that you will NEVER catch us wearing fur.  EVER.  We’d rather listen to Rebecca Black sing for five hours straight than wear fur—and you know how we feel about Rebecca Black.

That being said, I adore PETA.  If I could marry them, I would.  That’s how much I love them.  They’re never afraid to call out celebs who wear fur but at the same time, they give credit where it’s due.  And this time, it’s going to Penelope Cruz because she’s chosen to “give fur the cold shoulder.”

Penelope always looks fab on the red carpet and people always applaud her for her stellar wardrobe choices, but P refuses to wear fur—not even a little bit of it!  She worked with PETA in an anti-fur ad (and looks freaking amazzzzing) and now the site is discussing the clothing line she designed with her sister, called Mango.  AND—you guessed it—it’s entirely fur-free.  Yay!

Penelope is a major fan of animals—so much so that she’s opened her home to a number of rescued dogs and cats; and according to PETA, she even takes them to her interviews sometimes!  Girlfriend knows what kind of treatment animals receive when they’re used for fur, and she’d NEVER go there.

PETA reminds us that 85% of fur comes from poor animals raised on fur factory farms.  The way they’re treated there is absolutely horrendous.  They live in awful, cramped, dirty cages and are suffocated, electrocuted, gassed, and even poisoned.  Sometimes they suffer for days—even AFTER being skinned—before they finally die.

There is NOTHING glamorous, beautiful, fancy, or elegant about wearing fur.  If you must do it, go faux!  Fake fur is so real these days, you’d never know it was fake.  Save the animals.  They’ll love you for it.
